House NewsUploaded on August 1, 2000
House News: So, last month I said the house had begun framing, and it has! This time what I don't have pictures of is the white siding that's now on the house, the blue shudders and the formed rooms because of the dry wall is up!
I had been trying to get a hold of the superintendant of the project for almost a month because we had questions about where to pickup our paint (doing work equity--more about that below) and had other questions. He never returns my calls. Frustrated, I called his supervisor. I received no apologies but I did get the information I needed as well as more. We find out closing date is Sept 4! That's way too soon! I'm not prepared for this! eek!
So, we have to do work equity. Work equity is when you do work on the house yourself and they give you up to 3% of the value of the home to put towards a down payment. We have to do easy things like paint the garage door and exterior doors, scrape/clean the sub-floor before the carpeting goes in, plant a couple of trees and shrubs, and paint the basement steps. And we have to do VERY hard things like paint the entire interior walls of the house and sod & seed the lawn.
I was told that it's a good chance that we will be asked to do the painting of the inside of the house this coming weekend. Well, my mother and sister (and her children) are coming up to visit!! So I'm going to have to try to push it to the week or something else, but I hear that when they notify you, you've got 5 days to get the job done, that's it. And with a closing date a month away, there's no room for leeway.
